These raw stones have a coal like, all natural finish and like all Shungite, they rub off slightly in the hand and should be wiped with a damp cloth before use. Shungite is hard to come by and found only one place on earth - the Zazhoginskoye deposit near Lake Onega in the Shunga region of Karelia, North West of Russia. Rough Shungite looks like a combination of dark shiny Hematite and coal.
